The work of Bernardo Kastrup explains in a logical and scientific was how it is possible for consciousness to be all. As Kastrup points out, that word, 'consciousness', is the first stumbling block. It doesnt mean you individual consciousness, or mind.. Rupert Spira is also a good guide

In 2013 I suffered a sudden cardiac death and while I was in death, I had no memory of my life. I only existed as consciousness. Upon my return to life, I heard noises and saw shapes, but I wasn't able to decipher them, until I fully returned to life, at which time, I understood and realized my wife screaming my name and the paramedics knelling over my body. The funny thing is that I remember up to the moment of death. I don't remember falling to the floor, because I think I was dead before I hit the floor, but I do remember my experience in death. Therefore, I question whether my memory of death was actually factual or is it what my mind pieced together in the final nanoseconds, before I came back to life? I hear people give many different stories, most of which included seeing loved ones, who passed before them or people saying they hovered over their body. None of that was my experience. I went from life to pitch darkness, but had no fear, no thoughts, I only existed. The one commonality is the abundance of peace which flooded my senses, upon my return to life.
